National Response Protocol

The Diocese welcomes the recent announcement that the Australian Catholic Bishop’s Conference has approved the new Church National Response Protocol.

The Protocol provides a single national framework, which will ensure a consistent approach to the handling of concerns and allegations of child sexual abuse, including the investigation of these matters. The new National Protocol, which has been under development for two years, will replace the existing Melbourne Response and Towards Healing protocols.

The Diocese of Ballarat is now working with the other Victorian dioceses to develop a framework so that the new Protocol is implemented in a consistent manner throughout the State.
