Making a scene at Christmas
Nativity Scene Display -The first nativity scene recorded in history was conceived by St Francis of Assisi in 1223.  After visiting the Holy Land and birthplace of Jesus, St Francis was concerned that the meaning of Christmas was being forgotten.  To highlight the importance of the birth of Jesus, St Francis of Assisi obtained permission from the sovereign Pontiff to construct a nativity scene in a cave near Greccio, Italy.

58th World Day of Peace – January 1, 2025
Pope Francis’ message for the 58th World Day of Peace is “Forgive Us Our Trespasses, Grant Us Your Peace”.  He calls for wealthy countries to cancel the debt of poorer countries and develop a just international financial system, for the death penalty to be abolished everywhere and for, at least, a fixed percentage of armament budgets to be devoted to ending hunger and providing education for a sustainable future.
