The Parish of Gordon recently celebrated a Mass at the Gordon Cemetery on Sunday, November 19, 2017. A crowd of people gathered in the beautiful cemetery grounds and the large eucalyptus trees provided some welcome shade on a hot and sunny day. The sound of bagpipes playing set the scene as Fr Shane Mackinlay processed into the gathering to begin the Mass.
A number of people had travelled some distance to come together and to remember their loved ones, particularly those with a connection to the Parish of Gordon. We remembered those individuals and all of our family and loved ones whom we remember especially during the month of November. Many people worked hard to ensure that all preparations were in place to celebrate the Mass and the participation of so many individuals contributed to make the occasion a special remembrance service. The stirring sounds of the bagpipes completed the Mass and there was an opportunity for people to gather and talk with family and friends and to visit the cemetery.
The gathering continued at Donegan’s Farm at Gordon, where many people continued to enjoy catching up and reminiscing over afternoon tea.
