PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

CELEBRANT: By God’s grace we are children of light and of the day.  Let us pray for the light of Christ to shine on the world.

We pray for the Church, that the many gifts of women believers will be welcomed and allowed to flourish.

We pray for the poor in every land, that today’s World Day of the Poor will offer them new hope of relief.

We pray for the people of America, that they overcome their differences and work together in the service of justice, equity and compassion.

We pray for national leaders, that they will have the wisdom they need to address the root causes of religious terrorism.

(Pause for silent prayer)

We pray for children around the world that Universal Children’s Day this year will help secure their rights to shelter, food, education and safety.

We pray for those who died recently deceased Helen Minto, Bill Brennan, Tony Mansbridge, Margaret Gilmartin and for those whose anniversary of death occurs around this time, William and Mary Regan, Fr Kehoe, Sister Margaret Ritchie, Natalina Noronha, Wilprados Manek, Juvencio D Ximenes, Carolina, Betty Fitzgerald, Olivia Wright, Rebecca McKenzie, Sean Doran, Timothy Cooper.
